Two killed, nine injured in car blast at Russia's Dagestan police post — health ministry

MAKHACHKALA, February 15. /TASS/. Two people were killed and nine others were injured when a car exploded at a police post in southern Dagestan, a spokesman for the local Health Ministry said on Monday.

"Two have been killed. Nine have been injured, two of them seriously," the spokesman said adding that the injured persons have been sent to a hospital in the town of Dagestanskiye Ogni.

Dagestan’s Interior Ministry said earlier two police officers were killed and two others were injured.

The blast occurred at 9.05 a.m. local time (0600GMT) at a police post in the Derbentsky district when officers stopped a Priora car for checks. "As a result, two police officers were killed and two others were hospitalized with wounds," the ministry said.

A source in the North Caucasus republic’s law enforcement agencies earlier said the blast was believed to be the act of a suicide bomber.
