Ukraine working on resolution of Russian truck transit problem — FM

More than 100 Russian trucks are staying blocked in Ukraine and more than 500 trucks cannot enter Ukraine from the European Union countries on their way back to Russia

KIEV, February 15. /TASS/. Ukraine is taking effort to settle the problem of transit of Russian trucks across its territory, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said on Sunday.

"We have just finished a meeting of relevant agencies. We are taking effort to settle this problem," he said in an interview with the Inter television channel.

He said Ukraine was discussing this issue with the European Union. "We are discussing it with the European Union, since this problem includes transit of goods to Europe, Moldova. We are not going to act like Russia but we will defend our interests," he said.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure said on Sunday Ukraine was in technical consultations with the European Commission and certain member states of the European Union over the situation with the transit of Russian trucks across its territory. It said it had formed an operational headquarters to monitor the situation and elaborate proposals to the cabinet.
