Latvia’s president taken to hospital due to viral infection — executive office

RIGA, January 18. /TASS/. Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis has been taken to hospital because of a viral infection, a source in the president’s executive office has told TASS.

"The president was taken to Gailezers hospital to ensure his speedy recovery from a viral infection. Meanwhile, the president continues to perform his duties while in hospital. However, he will not take part in any public events this week," the source said.

Vejonis was due to meet on Monday with speaker of Georgia’s parliament David Usupashvili. He also planned to attend a number of solemn ceremonies and commemorative events later this week.
