UNITED NATIONS, September 28. /TASS/. The future of the world should be shaped by the efforts of all countries, Chinese President Xi Jinping told the 70th session of the UN General Assembly. "Countries choose their socio-economic ways of development, and this should be upheld," he said.
"It is necessary to promote multilateral relations and reject a one-sided approach," he said. "It’s also necessary to abandon the outdated approaches when the winner takes all. We should settle disputes on the basis of dialogue and consultations. We need to develop ties at the international and regional levels, to develop ties on the basis of partnership." He noted in particular that it was necessary to abandon "the Cold War mentality."
China will contribute 8,000 military for peacekeeping missions of the United Nations.
"China will join a new peacekeeping reaction system of the United Nations and will create special police force as well as a special reaction force with the numerical strength of 8,000 military."
Xi Jinping stressed that the development of the world towards multi-polarity and the growing influence of developing countries is an unquestionable historical trend.
"The movement towards the multipolar world and the growing influence of countries with emerging markets and developing countries have become unquestionable historical trends," he noted.
"Peace, development, equality, justice, democracy and freedom are the common goals of humanity and the fundamental principles of the UN. To date, we are still far achieving them and should continue work to implement them," Xi Jinping said.
According to the president, China will create a peace and development fund $1 billion worth under the aegis of the United Nations.
"I take this opportunity to declare China’s decision to create under the UN auspices a China-UN peace and development fund $1 billion worth. The fund will operate for ten years," Xi said.
