Ukraine’s National Guard trained to crack down on anti-war riots - DPR official

"A wave of popular resistance may overthrow the criminal junta if military hostilities resume and the Ukraine army suffers a new imminent defeat", Eduard Basurin said

MOSCOW, August 24 /TASS/. The Kiev government will throw Ukraine’s National Guard to crack down on popular riots if anti-war moods in Ukrainian society rise, Eduard Basurin, a spokesperson for the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), told journalists on Monday.

"A wave of popular resistance may overthrow the criminal junta if military hostilities resume and the Ukraine army suffers a new imminent defeat. That is why Poroshenko is actively training the National Guard, which will be used to crack down on the anti-war riots," the Donetsk news agency quoted Basurin as saying.

"But that will not intimidate the true patriots of Ukraine. We are calling on them to continue their struggle against the junta, which has enslaved the Ukrainian people," Basurin stressed.
