KIEV, January 13. /TASS/. The Contact Group on Ukraine can meet within days, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevgeny Perebeinos said on Tuesday.
“We believe that such meeting should be held without delay. Moreover it is important that the next steps, including a possibility of meeting within the ‘Normandy format’ at the high level, will depend on the fruitful work of the Contact Group,” he said.
On January 12, after the talks in Berlin the Normandy quartet (Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine) said the Contact Group on Ukraine was planning to meet shortly.
“The ministers urged the Contact Group to meet within days in order to achieve progress and make possible the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, including the creation of relevant conditions for an effective ceasefire,” the Normandy quartet said in a joint statement.
The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic plenipotentiary envoy, Denis Pushilin, said the Contact Group on Ukraine should work out compromises before the talks in Astana.
