KIEV, September 14 (Itar-Tass) - The Ukrainian army lost 107 men in battles near Ilovaisk, the Donetsk region, Ukrainian Defense Minister Valery Geletei said in an interview with Ukraine’s Channel 5.
“More bodies may be identified but the current figure stands at 107 people. We lost our best patriots,” he said.
Late in August, several battalions of Ukrainian army, the National Guard and voluntary battalions were surrounded by militias fighting for the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Ukraine Chief Prosecutor Vitaly Yarema put the death toll at no less than 200 people on September 10.
