SIMFEROPOL, June 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service and Defense Ministry are reportedly reinforcing roadblocks on the border between the Kherson Region and Russia’s Crimea. According to CrimeaInform news agency, the Chongar checkpoint has been surrounded by a barbed wire perimeter fence and huge concrete slabs been placed across the road.

Since Wednesday evening, fortifications have been created on either side of the road. The works have affected traffic causing jams.

Several kilometers away from the Chongar checkpoint the Ukrainian military have planted sandbag fire emplacements along open trenches. One T-64 main battle tank and several armored personnel carriers BMP-2 have been noticed in caponiers. Field tent camps have been set up around the roadblocks.

On the Crimean side CrimeaInform’s correspondent noticed no fire emplacements or armored vehicles. Russian border guards are present at the automobile border checkpoint.
