MOSCOW, April 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Palestine’s Embassy in Moscow has said Israel must observe the rights of Palestinian prisoners.

“Over 5,000 Palestinian prisoners (over 200 children and 19 prisoners of war among them) are in custody in Israel. They endure hardship while the Israeli authorities continue holding them in exchange for political dividends. Thereby Israel violates human rights,” the embassy says.

“The international community should take the situation under control and make Israel fulfil its obligations in the field of human rights,” it says.

“The leadership of Palestine has lodged 15 petitions to the UN over the humanitarian problem that the world community cannot ignore,” the embassy says.
