MOSCOW, February 13. /ITAR-TASS/. The 2+2 format will allow Russia and Egypt to determine joint actions for settling crisis on the basis of humanitarian law, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after the meeting on Thursday.

“We consider the format rather useful. It gives an opportunity to take a systematic and comprehensive approach towards regional and international issues. The format proves the nature of our partnership,” Lavrov said, adding “All crises should be settled on the basis of principles of non-interference into internal affairs, states’ territorial integrity and the people’s right to decide themselves on their fate.”

Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy said the 2+2 format “allowed both parties to create a common approach towards the existing issues under which everything should be settled by political means. A platform should be created to discuss different issues on a broader basis. Our cooperation has different aspects and the 2+2 format gives us a chance to discuss military issues, as well as social, political and economic problems”.
