Georgia’s border police detain two men keeping radioactive Radium-226

TBILISI, December 14, 14:15 /ITAR-TASS/. Georgia’s border police have detained two Georgians, who kept a plumbic container with radioactive Radium-226, the country’s Interior Ministry reported on Saturday.

The radioactive substance was found at home of a detained during a search, and experts confirmed it was Radium-226.

The interior ministry reports it continues investigation into “the illegal keeping of a radioactive substance, prepared for further sale.”

Georgia’s legislation reads crimes of the kind may be punished by imprisonment for 5-10 years.
