Latvia’s outgoing Prime Minister to refuse to form new cabinet

Current PM resigned Wednesday in the wake of the tragedy in a supermarket in Riga last week

RIGA, November 27, 19:46 /ITAR-TASS/. Latvia’s Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis, who tendered resignation Wednesday in the wake of the tragedy in a supermarket in Riga last week, will refuse to form a new cabinet of minister even if he gets an invitation of this kind.

He said it Wednesday at a news conference,

“I’ve just quitted the premier’s position and I don’t find it possible to occupy that seat again after the forthcoming political consultations,” Dombrovskis said. “We’ve discussed the issue with our President.

He said he was pondering a return to the Saeima, the national parliament, in the capacity of a deputy.

“As for the plans for a more distant future, I didn’t think about them so far,” Dombrovskis said.
