MOSCOW, May 1 (Itar-Tass) - Jets of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) landed in China with a consignment of humanitarian aid to the quake-hit population, the ministry’s press service said on Wednesday.
EMERCOM’s two Il-76 jets landed at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport at 06.13 hours GMT and 06.39 hours GMT on Wednesday. They delivered 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid - essentials and food stuffs, the press service said.
On April 28, another 13.5 tonnes of relief were brought to the city of Chengdu by an EMERCOM plane.
The 7.0-magnitude earthquake that rocked Lushan, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, on April 20 left nearly 200 dead and 12,000 injured.
