MOSCOW, December 10 (Itar-Tass) — The reports about an air crash in Zambia are false, the exercises of the rescue services were taken for tragedy, Russian Charge d’Affaires ad Interim in Zambia Andrei Stolyarov confirmed this report to Itar-Tass on Monday.
“No air crash occurred. Scheduled exercises of the rescue services, including firemen and medical staff, were held,” the diplomat said.
Stolyarov did not rule out that a regretful error was made, particularly because the passengers of other airplanes posted this information in the internet, having no reliable information.
“An employee of the Russian Embassy went to the airport, where the situation was clarified finally,” the charge d’affaires ad interim added.
According to some previous reports, the McDonnell Douglas passenger airliner, which was carrying 93 people, allegedly crashed in the landing at the international airport in Lusaka, Zambia’s capital, on Monday. The launch of the rescue operation was even reported.
