MINSK, March 1. /TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has excoriated a proposal to deploy NATO medium- and shorter-range missiles to Ukraine, branding it as unacceptable.

"They are already talking about Ukraine. If such missiles were deployed to Ukraine, that would be a disaster," he told reporters at a Friday news conference.

According to Lukashenko, "one must understand that Russia cannot allow these missiles to be deployed there."

"We will be in full solidarity with Russians. Ukraine should not take any steps in that direction, that could be a disaster for Ukrainian statehood," he stressed.
