Consultations with US on joint resolution on Venezuela suspended, says Russia’s UN envoy

Russian envoy to the UN Vassily Nebenzia said that there is a resolution which reinforces Venezuela’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, if necessary

UN, February 14. /TASS/. Consultations with the US concerning the joint version of a UN Security Council resolution on Venezuela have been suspended so far, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vassily Nebenzia stated on Thursday.

"If necessary, we have a resolution which reinforces Venezuela’s sovereignty and territorial integrity," he noted. In response to a question by TASS concerning the consultations with the US on a joint version of the resolution, the Russian envoy said that the talks have been "suspended".

The project of the US resolution on Venezuela at the disposal of TASS appeals to hold presidential elections in the country. In response, Moscow prepared another resolution that calls for dialogue. Experts are currently evaluating both projects, which have not been presented to the UN Security Council yet.
