Ukrainian prosecutors classify court rulings concerning Kerch Strait incident

No official reasons for the measure were offered

KIEV, December 26. /TASS/. Ukrainian prosecutors have decided to classify all court decisions concerning the criminal case opened over the Kerch Strait incident, as follows from what the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Region said in reply to a query from a local daily.

No official reasons for the measure were offered.

On Wednesday, December 26 the unified state register of court decisions closed unrestricted access to all previous decisions by courts concerning the passage of Ukrainian ships through the Kerch Strait.

Earlier, Ukraine classified all documents of the country’s naval command concerning the ships’ navigation plans in the Kerch Strait. Russia’s federal security service FSB earlier said that according to the documents found on board the ships were to make a stealthy voyage through the Kerch Strait.

Three Ukrainian naval ships on November 25 violated the rules of navigation through Russia’s territorial waters from the Black Sea to the Sea of Azov. The Ukrainian ships ignored all legitimate orders to stop to be detained and taken to Kerch. The 24 Ukrainian sailors were charged with the illegal crossing of the Russian border and arrested till January 25.

After the incident the Ukrainian law enforcers put on the wanted list eight Russian citizens involved in the arrest of Ukrainian sailors. Most of them are officers at the FSB departments in Crimea and Sevastopol and Russia’s border guard service.
