Russia grateful to ASEAN partners for backing cybersecurity initiative, Putin says

The president said Russia will join ASEAN’s plans to create a network of "smart cities"

SINGAPORE, November 14. /TASS/. Russia is grateful to her partners, the member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), for their support of Moscow’s cybersecurity initiative, President Vladimir Putin told the Russia-ASEAN plenary session.

"(We) are grateful to our ASEAN partners for the support of Russia’s initiative to adopt a joint statement aimed at boosting the efficiency of the fight against cybercrime and shaping common approaches to the behavior of states in the global information space," Putin stated.

Russia will join ASEAN’s plans to create a network of "smart cities", the president added. Moscow is Russia’s nationwide leader for introducing digital technology into urban life, Putin pointed out, recalling that the Russian capital already actively cooperates with Singapore on a bilateral basis. "We expect that the geography of such cooperation will expand mutually," Putin emphasized.
