Russia to submit draft resolution to UN on preserving INF Treaty — senior diplomat

"We will see how countries, including US allies, will react to this," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said

MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. Russia will submit a draft resolution in support of preserving the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty to the United Nations on Wednesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told Channel One.

"Today the Russian Federation will submit a draft resolution in support of preserving the [INF] Treaty to the first committee of UN General Assembly. We will see how countries, including US allies, will react to this," Ryabkov said.

On October 20, US President Donald Trump said that the US will withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty because Russia allegedly violates it. Ryabkov described this as a dangerous step. Washington's position was criticized in Berlin and Beijing. London expressed its support for the US decision, while NATO laid the responsibility for Trump's decision on Russia which the Alliance suggests violated the Treaty. Moscow refuted all allegations and puts forward its respective concerns about the US adherence to the INF Treaty.
