Kiev’s forces violate ceasefire six times in one day - LPR people’s militia

Areas of the communities of Donetsky and Frunze, the Maryevka railroad station, the communities of Sokolniki and Vesyolaya Gora came under attack

LUGANSK, October 22. /TASS/. The Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) have shelled positions of the people’s militia of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) six times over the past day, the LPR people’s militia told journalists on Monday.

"Areas of the communities of Donetsky and Frunze, the Maryevka railroad station, the communities of Sokolniki and Vesyolaya Gora came under attack," the Lugansk Media Center quoted a people’s militia official as saying. Kiev’s militants used mortars, grenade launchers, arms of armored personnel vehicles and small arms.

A new ceasefire came into effect in Donbass on the midnight of August 29. The agreement had been reached on August 22 in Minsk by the Trilateral Contact Group members, who made a statement to cease fire along the contact line at the beginning of the school year. However, according to the DPR, Ukraine’s forces violated the new ceasefire three hours after its launch by shelling the outskirts of Gorlovka.

The sides have agreed to ceasefires more than 20 times since the start of the Donbass conflict, with the most successful ceasefire seen in 2016, which lasted six weeks.
