Russia’s ‘wise policy’ helps preserve fragile peace in Europe, says German MP

The politician also stated that he served as an international observer during the Russian presidential election

YALTA, April 19. /TASS/. The wise policy of Russian officials helps maintain peace on the European continent, said German MP Waldemar Herdt, member of the Alternative for Germany party, during the session dubbed "Russia and EU: mechanism for overcoming the crisis" within the framework of the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF).

"I would like to convey the thoughts of the majority of Germans, which can be expressed in one sentence: "God, give President Putin and the Russian government enough patience and wisdom not to respond in the same way that they are being treated," he said. "This gives us hope that this [Russia’s] wise policy has given us enough time to deescalate tensions."

At the start of his speech, which he presented in Russian, Herdt congratulated Russian citizens and the Crimean population in particular on the recently held presidential election. "I would like to congratulate the Crimean people on the well-executed elections, the results of which have shown the international community once again that your decision was correct," the MP noted.

The politician stated that he served as an international observer during the Russian presidential election and that he was impressed by the transparency and high organizational levels of the election process. "We have not seen such a transparent and well-organized election in a long time, and this is what the German media reports," the politician said.

The fourth Yalta International Economic Forum, dubbed "Global Future. Future of Russia", will take place on April 19-21. TASS is the general information partner and the official photo host agency of the Yalta Forum.
