MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) welcomes the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who urged Russia to heed the agency’s demands, WADA President Craig Reedie said cited by WADA’s press service.

Earlier on Wednesday, speaking at a meeting devoted to preparations for the 2019 Winter Universiade in the eastern Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, Putin said that Russia should heed WADA demands along with results of the Richard McLaren investigation.

"The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) welcomes Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement today urging his country to ‘heed the demands of the McLaren Investigation’," said Reedie.

"This public admission by Russian President Vladimir Putin that their ‘anti-doping system has failed’ is an important step in the right direction," he said.
