MOSCOW, December 9. /TASS/. The full findings of the report compiled by Richard McLaren are unprecedented and astonishing, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) said in a press release published on its official website.
On Friday, the World Anti-Doping Agency released the second part of the report into doping in Russia. The report particularly says that the doping samples of six Russian Paralympians, who won a total of 21 medals at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, have been tempered with.
"The International Paralympic Committee would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation to Professor McLaren and his investigation team for completing their mandate," the press release reads. According to the IPC, "the full findings of the report are unprecedented and astonishing. They strike right at the heart of the integrity and ethics of sport. We wholeheartedly agree with Professor McLaren that the best course of action is to work together to fix the broken and compromised anti-doping system in Russia."
On July 18, the first part of the report compiled by Canadian sports lawyer Richard McLaren, was released. It was based on the testimony of former Russian anti-doping laboratory director Grigory Rodchenkov who accused Russia of institutional conspiracy to conceal positive doping tests. According to Rodchenkov, he assisted in doctoring urine samples provided by Russian athletes, including those who took part in the 2012 London Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
On August 7, the IPC suspended the Russian Paralympic Committee which resulted in the Russian team being banned from the Rio Paralympic Games. On August 23, the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the IPC’s decision based on the McLaren report.
