LAUSANNE, March 14. /TASS/. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is satisfied with Russia’s work in anti-doping efforts and considers its position to be constructive, WADA Director General David Howman told TASS on Monday.
"I am pleased with the way we cooperate with Russia in anti-doping struggle," Howman said. "I want to believe this positive movement continues."
An independent WADA commission last November delivered a report on its investigation into doping abuse allegations involving Russian athletes. After that, the RUSADA and the Moscow anti-doping laboratory suspended their work.
WADA founders who convened for their council meeting in Colorado Springs in the US on approved a decision by the organization’s committee that RUSADA was not in compliance with WADA rules.
Russian Sports Minister Mutko traveled later on November 25-26 to Frankfurt, where he met with the WADA administration, and a Road Map on the settlement of the current situation was drafted as a result of that meeting.
On December 10, the WADA commission started its work in Moscow. Than the decision was made that UKAD will help RUSADA’s work while it is not in compliance with WADA.
Howman did not specify the date when RUSADA may be rehabilitated.
"That will happen after RUSADA adopts and implements a program suitable for everyone," he said. "We have told our Russian colleagues what to do and how to do it. Now it is up to the Russian side."
On January 20, RUSADA was partly restored in its rights and the agency resumed its work. In near future two independent international experts will start their work in RUSADA.
