Man gets 3 years in jail for killing 12 birds at Moscow’s mini zoo

MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. A Moscow court has sentenced a 21-year old Muscovite to three years and one month in prison for killing 12 rare pheasants at a mini zoo in the Gorky Park, a spokesman for the local prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.

"Nikita Kashentsev will be serving his term at a penal colony," the spokesman said.

On September 30, Kashentsev broke into a bird cage of the mini zoo and brutally killed 12 pheasants.

The convict had earlier paid the damages to the park worth 79,000 rubles ($1,300).
