MOSCOW, November 23./TASS/. Spanish patrons of the arts have donated 58 works by Russian painters to the State Tretyakov Gallery and other Russian museums ‘worth millions of dollars’, Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky told reporters on Thursday.

The minister said the donation ceremony itself is scheduled to take place on Thursday, regretting that he will not be in time for the event because of a government session.

Medinsky said "this is the second major donation event in the past two weeks." Earlier, two art patrons handed over to the Tretyakov Gallery a very expensive collection of works by Gely Korzhev (1925-2012). "Spanish art patrons who have been collecting, buying, finding, restoring and enflaming paintings, have made a donation of 58 paintings to Russia," Medinsky stressed.

He said part of the collection will go to the Tretyakov Gallery, part to the ROSIZO museum and exhibition center, while other paintings will go to art museums of Nizhny Novgorod and Volgograd (cities along the Volga River).
