Seven Moscow cops arrested for using kids to bait and bust pedophile suspects

The policemen are suspected of using children as a honeytrap in a sting operation to lure pedophiles and later extort money from the suspects in order to terminate the criminal investigation

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. Seven police officers who used children in a sting operation to catch pedophiles have been detained in Moscow, a source in the city law enforcement bodies told TASS on Friday.

"At the moment seven policemen have been arrested," the source said, adding that on October 1, the investigator will ask the Presnensky court to place them in custody.

The policemen are suspected of using children as a honeytrap in a sting operation to lure pedophiles and later extort money from the suspects in order to terminate the criminal investigation, the source said.

The officers now stand accused of establishing an organized crime network and participating in it. The source has not ruled out that the number of charges against them may increase.
