NAZRAN, May 24. /TASS/. Five gunmen from a group connected with the Islamic State were detained in Ingushetia, Russia’s republic in the North Caucasus, the press service of the regional interior ministry reported on Tuesday.
It said "five residents of Ekazhevo settlement, aged between 24 and 44 and making part of illegal armed groups, were detained between May 19 and 23 in a joint operation of Ingushetia’s Interior Ministry and the Russian Federal Security Service(FSB)".
It was established in the course of initial investigation that the detained men had formed a terrorist cell, the press service said. The Information Center of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee reported earlier that FSB and police forces had wound up in the republic the activity of a gang connected with Islamic State.
