Adults write nearly 30% of letters sent to Grandfather Frost in 2018

Grandfather Frost primarily replies to "kind and creative letters"

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Roughly a third of all letters that have been sent to Grandfather Frost this year were written by grownups, Grandfather Frost’s office told TASS.

"As of December 1, 2018, Grandfather Frost received 76,453 letters, not just from Russia but from other countries too, up by 4,000 letters from a year earlier. <...> Nearly one third of these letters have come from adults of all ages since it is not just children who believe in miracles. Women ask for an apartment in the city center, a sea trip, or a stable job. As for men, they asked for a salary raise, career growth and a new car," reads the statement.

Other things on the wish list are well-being for their families and peace on Earth. Pensioners ask for financial assistance, sometimes grumbling about officials.

When it comes to children, they ask for new gadgets, a LOL doll, a Barbie, baby cosmetics, a 3D pen, a new dress, as well as for Lego, remote control airplanes and cars, etc. Bicycles, skates, skis, soccer and volleyball balls are also popular, just as the Mafia and Monopoly games.

Grandfather Frost primarily replies to "kind and creative letters," his office emphasized, pointing out that the number of such letters has significantly increased this year.

Grandfather Frost’s main residence is in the countryside near the city of Veliki Ustyug. In total, 3.39 million letters have been sent to Russia’s main wintertime magic character since the opening of a special post office in Veliky Ustyug.
