Russia sends humanitarian aid to Syrian children, disabled persons

The employees of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides have delivered wheelchairs, warm clothes and other basic necessities free of charge

DAMASCUS, November 18. /TASS/. The employees of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria have delivered humanitarian aid to Syria’s Damascus. Children and servicemen disabled in the course of war have received new wheelchairs, food and warm clothes, head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Vladimir Savchenko told reporters.

"We have carried out humanitarian activities in the specialized institute for the people disabled during the war (in Damascus - TASS). During this, we have delivered wheelchairs, warm clothes and other basic necessities free of charge to the Syrian servicemen who fought during the war, as well as children disabled in the course of war," Savchenko said, adding that the Russian center was aided by Syrian officials.

"Four years ago the militants attacked me, I injured my back. My spine was grazed, and since then, I cannot walk. Now I’ve got a wheelchair, I can go and see my friends," one of the Syrian citizens injured in the war said.

According to the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, Russia has provided Syria with over 3100 tons of provisions, basic necessities and medicine.
