FSB brings high treason charges against Russian military expert — source

A source says Russia’s Federal Security Service has brought charges of high treason against military expert Vladimir Neyelov, who was earlier arrested by Moscow’s Lefortovsky court

MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has brought charges of high treason against Russian military expert Vladimir Neyelov, who was earlier arrested by Moscow’s Lefortovsky court, a source close to investigators told TASS on Tuesday.

"Vladimir Neyelov has been charged under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Court ("high treason.") He is pleading not guilty," the source said, declining to give more details on the charges.

Moscow’s Lefortovsky court on October 26 ruled to place Neyelov in custody on charges of high treason for two months. According to a source close to the investigation, Neyelov, an expert at the Center of Strategic Environment, known for his commentaries on the activities of private military companies, has been leaking top secret information abroad. He is facing up to 20 years behind bars. The case is classified as confidential.

According to open sources, Neyelov graduated from the St. Petersburg State University, with a degree in international relations. He specializes in private military companies, state-of-the-art warfare, military doctrines and strategies.
