Russian deputy PM notes growing popularity of Russian language in China

The deputy prime minister reiterated that the sales turnover between the two countries is constantly growing as well

BEIJING, October 30. /TASS/. The Russian language is becoming more and more popular in all spheres of cooperation between Russia and China and its popularity will grow even more in the future, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said on Tuesday.

"I can state with complete certainty that after graduating in China specialists in Russian philology can always find employment, provided they have the necessary level of knowledge," she noted at a meeting with Chairman of Peking University Council Qiu Shuiping. "The study of the Russian language is the right choice. There are hardly any spheres left - be it in policy, economy or culture - without Russian-Chinese relations and our bilateral cooperation encompassing them."

The deputy prime minister reiterated that the sales turnover between the two countries is constantly growing. "Cooperation in areas like mutual investments, energy, science and technology, space, communication, information technologies, finance, civil aviation equipment and transport has great prospects. The Russian-Chinese ties in the humanitarian sphere are approaching a new high level," she added, stressing that the political contacts between our countries at all levels are unprecedented.

The Russian deputy prime minister noted that the positions of Moscow and Beijing on the thorniest international issues overlap almost completely, so the demand for learning the Russian language will grow in the future.

Golikova arrived to Beijing ahead of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to China, which will take place on November 5-7. During her stay in the Chinese capital the deputy prime minister will hold negotiations with Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Sun Chunlan, attend the 19th session of the Russian-Chinese Commission for Humanitarian Cooperation, the ceremony of the establishment of the Russian-Chinese Association for Cooperation in the Sphere of Television, as well as the launch of an online column on humanitarian ties and cooperation between Russia and China in a mobile application.
