Kadyrov slams PACE's 'fake' report on human rights violations in Chechnya

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe report alleges that homosexuals in the Chechen republic are exposed to persecution

GROZNY, June 27. /TASS/. Chechnya’s Ramzan Kadyrov has dismissed as a fake the report in which the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) alleges that homosexuals in his republic are exposed to persecution.

"The report is based on false stories about human rights violations in the Chechen Republic. After fake news by some media about alleged torture in Chechnya a report has been fabricated that has nothing to do with the real state of affairs in Russia. I declare officially that not a single PACE official has contacted us over the issue. There have been no official queries. No PACE or Council of Europe officials have visited the Chechen Republic to probe into the falsehoods being spread by Russia’s enemies," Kadyrov said in his Telegram channel.

He believes that Russia should not pay PACE membership dues for violating the rights of every Russian by taking anti-Russian sanctions and drowning the voice or reason in anti-Russian rhetoric.

"I do not think that we should pay the membership dues and support the European bureaucrats who refuse to comply with democracy and conduct impartial investigations of human rights violations. It is senseless and humiliating to pay for not being able to protect our citizens and our country," Kadyrov said.
