About 300 protesters detained in central Moscow

Around 1,500 people took part in the rally

MOSCOW, May 5. /TASS/. Police have detained about 300 people for public order offenses at an unauthorized rally in central Moscow, the capital’s police told TASS on Saturday.

"About 300 people have been detained for public order violations during an unsanctioned public event in downtown Moscow and hauled off to police precincts for questioning," the police said noting the issue of holding them accountable was under consideration.

Earlier, Moscow’s police reported that blogger Alexei Navalny and his supporter Nikolai Lyaskin had been detained in central Moscow for staging an unsanctioned public event.

According to the police, about 1,500 people took part in the rally.
