Russia’s Khrunichev Space Center has enough carrier rockets for 2019 launch campaign

There are 8 ready-made carriers to be stored at the center, one more rocket has been dispatched to the spaceport for preparing for the launch

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The Khrunichev Center (the manufacturer of Proton-M and Angara rockets) has a sufficient stock of Proton-M carriers for up to ten launches from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in 2019, the Center’s press office reported on Thursday.

"Eight ready-made carriers will be stored at the Khrunichev Center’s storehouse until the end of 2018. One more rocket has been dispatched to the spaceport for preparing for its launch. Therefore, the enterprise has ensured already now the required stock of Proton-M carriers in the interests of state and commercial customers and has prepared for the 2019 launch campaign announced earlier," Khrunichev Center Deputy CEO for Production Roman Khokhlov was quoted by the press office as saying.

The optimization program, which the Khrunichev Center is implementing, has enabled it to considerably speed up the production of components for the final assembly of Proton-M carrier rockets and improve its 2016 and 2017 indicators, the press office said.

The Khrunichev Center is the developer and the serial manufacturer of Proton-M carrier rockets. The first launch of this rocket with a Briz-M booster took place on April 7, 2001 and since then the enterprise has carried out 103 launches of carrier rockets of this type.
