About 700 Russian troops repel air assaults in Abkhazia drills

The drills involve more than 50 pieces of military hardware, including KamAZ modern armored trucks from the Mustang series, BTR-82M armored personnel carriers, air defense and artillery systems

MOSCOW, September 1. /TASS/. Motor rifle units from the Russian military base in Abkhazia are repelling air assaults and attacks of a simulated enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance groups during military exercises in the area, a spokesman for the Southern Military District said on Tuesday.

"The integrated exercises involve about 700 troops and more than 50 pieces of military hardware, including KamAZ modern armored trucks from the Mustang series, BTR-82M armored personnel carriers, air defense and artillery systems", the spokesman said.

The servicemen of the Russian military base are also involved in range practice, tactics, engineering and medical training in line with the newest and intensive methods meeting modern warfare requirements.
