NOVOSIBIRSK, July 17. /TASS/. A woman assailant pelted Russian opposition activist Alexey Navalny with eggs as he arrived for a news conference in Novosibirsk, Siberia’s largest city, a TASS correspondent reported on Friday.

The Progress Party leader was met by protesters as he arrived to support the local Democratic coalition in plans to contest regional assembly elections. This was the second such attack he has endured there in two months.

"I am happy to visit Novosibirsk. Its residents are doing well enough to throw food in the streets," he noted after the first incident.
