Russia to demonstrate Pantsir-S air defense system capabilities at Army-2015 forum

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. The Russian Aerospace Defense Forces will demonstrate the combat capabilities of the Pantsir-S short-range gun and missile air defense system (NATO reporting name: SA-22 Greyhound) at the Army-2015 forum outside Moscow, Force spokesman, Colonel Dmitry Zenin said on Monday.

"The column of the combat hardware of the Aerospace Defense Forces’ Air and Anti-Missile Defense Command, which will be involved in the Army-2015 forum, has completed its redeployment to the Patriot patriotic park in Kubinka in the Moscow Region," the spokesman said.

The Pantsir-S air defense missile system will hold a special place in the display of combat hardware at the forum, the spokesman said.

"During the forum, combat units of the Aerospace Defense Forces will demonstrate the capabilities of the Pantsir-S systems for detecting and destroying low-flying aircraft with live combat firing," the spokesman said.

Apart from the Pantsir-S, the hardware redeployed to the Army-2015 forum includes S-400 Triumf (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) air defense missile systems, VVO, Nebo-M, Kasta 2-2 and Podlyot-K1 radar complexes and other air defense systems on combat duty to protect Moscow and Russia’s Central Industrial District.

After the column’s arrival at the Patriot park, specialists of the Aerospace Defense Forces started preparing the combat hardware for display and practicing the elements of the demonstration program of the Pantsir air defense system’s combat capabilities.

Overall, the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces will demonstrate about 40 exhibits at the Army-2015 forum, the spokesman said.

The Army-2015 forum will be held in Kubinka of the Odintsovo district in the Moscow Region on June 16-19.
