Trucks with humanitarian aid for Donbass cross Russian border

This is the eighth convoy with humanitarian aid

DONETSK/MATVEYEV KURGAN /Rostov region/, November 30. /TASS/. All trucks with humanitarian aid for Donbass have crossed the Russian border, representative of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry Oleg Voronov said on Sunday.

“Over 40 trucks are heading for Luhansk,” he said.

The convoy will deliver over 400 tonnes of aid to Luhansk, and over 800 tonnes to Donetsk, he said.

This is the eighth convoy with humanitarian aid for Donbass. “We were assembling it for several days, receiving trucks from the Rostov, Voronezh, Tula, Ivanovo and Moscow regions. From the emergency situations ministry’s rescue centre in Noginsk (near Moscow) we received about 60 trucks,” the ministry’s representative said.

From mid August to November 16, seven humanitarian convoys delivered to Donbass almost 9.5 thousand tonnes of cargo - mostly food products, construction materials and medicines.

The convoy moved in bad weather conditions. Due to blizzard, ice on the road and poor visibility in Russia’s Rostov region, the drivers had to move at the lowest possible speed with all necessary precautions. Thus, the delivery of the humanitarian cargo would take more time than previously.
