Russian army October-December draft plan already 75% fulfilled

About 32,000 draftees, which is 21%, have been sent to deployment places including Yakutia, Khabarovsk, the Primorsky and Kamchatka territories and the Sakhalin and Kaliningrad regions

MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. More than 115,000 draftees, or 75.2% of the planned number, are already taken for military service in the Russian Armed Forces during this draft period that began on October 1 and will last till December 31, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service told TASS on Friday.

About 32,000 draftees, which is 21%, have been sent to deployment places, a ministry source said, adding that mostly they are transported by rail or road transport and also by air or sea to remote military bases in such regions as Yakutia, Khabarovsk, the Primorsky and Kamchatka territories and the Sakhalin and Kaliningrad regions.

Draftees who have higher education may choose whether to serve under contract.

Besides, some are drafted to scientific and sport units. The number of scientific units has increased from five to eight.
