Seven killed, one injured in traffic accident in Russia’s Bashkortostan

The driver of the minibus was critically injured and is now in an emergency ward of a local hospital

UFA, March 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Seven people were killed and one was critically injured after a minibus collided with a truck in Russia’s republic of Bashkortostan on the Volga River, the press service of the regional Interior Ministry’s department reported on Thursday.

The head-on collision of the Volkswagen minibus and Mercedes Benz truck took place in the Arkhangelsky district of the republic on the Ufa-Izner-Beloretsk highway. Apart from the the driver, there were seven passengers in the minibus at the moment of the accident.

“Seven passengers died at the scene,” the press service reported. “The driver of the minibus was critically injured and is now in an emergency ward of a local hospital.”

An investigative group is working at the scene of the accident to establish the cause of the crash, but the press service reported that the minibus swerved into the oncoming lane before crashing with the truck.

There was no information from the press service whether the driver of the truck was injured in the traffic accident.
