BRUSSELS, March 01, /ITAR-TASS/. Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov next week to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
Ashton will attend an urgent meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday, March 3, to discuss the European Union’s reaction to the latest developments in Ukraine. After the meeting she intends to confer with Lavrov and then travel to Kiev, the capital of strife-torn Ukraine, on Wednesday, March 5, to discuss these issues with interested parties.
She was scheduled to go to Kiev on March 3 but the trip was postponed because of the urgent meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Ukraine.
