Russian Yekaterina Plekhova wins Miss Intercontinental pageant

BERLIN, December 15, (ITAR-TASS). Russian Yekaterina Plekhova has won Miss Intercontinental 2013 international beauty pageant in the finals held overnight in Magdeburg, Germany, local media outlets report.

The 23-year-old Russian girl received a crown with 720 precious stones worth more than $267,000 and the money prize of $35,000.

The Miss Intercontinental pageant was held for the 42nd time, bringing together girls from 59 countries. The second and third places went to Aleyda Ortiz from Puerto Rico and Margarita Peralta from Columbia accordingly. Last year’s winner was a young girl from Venezuela.

Yekaterina Plekhova was born and grew up in Russia’s second biggest city of St. Petersburg. In 2011 she was the winner of Miss St. Petersburg beauty pageant.
