Rosatom division in talks about highly protected military objects

MOSCOW, December 12 (Itar-Tass) - Rosatom nuclear corporation’s engineering company Atomenergoproekt (AEP) is negotiating the design and further construction of Defence Ministry’s facilities with potential customers, the company’s deputy director for strategy and science, Dmitry Paramonov, told Itar-Tass.

“We design and build nuclear power plants protected from plane crashes, so designing highly protected military facilities - command centers and shelters, for which it is crucially important to be able to resist military impacts, is close to our sphere of competence and is a promising field of operations,” Paramonov said.

He added the AEP also planned to penetrate other markets beyond its sector of specialization, like thermal power generation and petrochemistry. Development in these sectors will follow the adoption of the company’s strategy.

The AEP is the general contractor of nuclear power plants in Novovoronezh (NPP-2) and Leningrad region (NPP-2) now under construction. The company has designed most NPPs in Russia, Eastern Europe and CIS countries.

The AEP has designed Akkuyu NPP that is now being built in Turkey, Bushehr NPP in Iran and two energy at Kudankulam NPP in India.
