MOSCOW, December 09. /ITAR-TASS/. The panel of jurors on Monday unanimously found air hooligan Sergei Kabalov guilty of an attempt to hijack a plane on a flight from Moscow to Hurghada, Tass has reported from the Moscow regional court.
Meanwhile, they asked the court for leniency for the perpetrator, meaning that he will be issued a sentence with imprisonment no longer than two thirds of the maximum sentence.
On January 11, Kabalov, on a flight from Moscow to Hurghada, took actions "towards hijacking the plane," using violence and threatening violence, the investigators said earlier. Following the incident, Kabalov was put on the international wanted list and detained in Grodno region, Belarus, on March 7. He was convoyed to Moscow on May 18.
