MOSCOW, October 1 (Itar-Tass) - Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid will pay an official visit to Russia on October 2-4, a Russian Foreign Ministry official said on Tuesday.
“On October 2, he will hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov,” the ministry’s Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said. “High on the agenda will be issues of the implementation of agreements signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to India in December 2012 and preparations for the upcoming top-level contacts, as well as to Russia-India-China [RIC] ministerial meeting and current bilateral and international issues.”
Special attention will be focused on the situation in Syria, in the Middle East and North Africa, interaction within the United nations, the BRICS [an acronym standing for the association of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa], and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the official said.
Apart from that, the Indian minister as a co-chairman of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation will take part in the 19th meeting of this commission. The Russian co-chairman of the commission is Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
