MOSCOW, September 18 (Itar-Tass) - A group of inspectors of the Russian Defense Ministry under command of First Deputy Defense Minister Akrady Bakhin made surprise inspections of the structural services of the Transport and Energy ministries, the defense ministry's press service told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.
The inspectors, who acted on the instructions of the Russian president, paid special attention to the compliance of the inspected services with the set time norms, checked interaction between the respective federal structures and the subordinate structures and their ability to fulfill their tasks with the assigned degree of readiness, the press service said.
The surprise inspections have been conducted for training purposes in the framework of the preparation for joint Russo-Belarusian exercises code-named "Zapad-2013." The inspections will enable to check the sufficiency of interdepartmental planning and help create mechanisms of response to the existing threats, the press service said. On Wednesday, the inspections will continue in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
On Tuesday more than 20,000 Interior troops were put in condition of combat preparedness in connection with the "Zapad-2013" exercises.
