Shoigu hears reports on actions of troops on first day of combat check of troops in Central, Eastern Military Districts

MOSCOW, July 14 (Itar-Tass) - At a telecom conference upon the results of the first day of a large-scale check of combat readiness of the troops in the Eastern and Central Military Districts Russian Defence Minister General Sergei Shoigu heard behind closed doors the reports of several military commanders on the actions of the troops, Chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian General Staff Colonel-General Vladimir Zarudnitsky told reporters on Sunday.

The minister focused on the quality of the fulfilled tasks, particularly the command of the troops, the control system and the material technical and medical support of the tasks. “In conclusion, the defence minister focused attention on the observance of the security requirements in the performance of forthcoming tasks,” Zarudnitsky said after a telecom conference that the Russian defence minister held in the Situation Centre of the Russian Armed Forces.

Zarudnitsky noted that the defence minister heard at the telecom conference Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov, who on Shoigu’s orders is included in the group of generals and officers in the Eastern Military District, where he is supervising the performance of the military check.

Meanwhile, the minister heard the reports of the commanders of the troops in the Eastern and Central Military Districts and several commanders of the formations involved in the military exercises.

Zarudnitsky noted that the telecom conferences over the progress of a large-scale check of combat readiness of the troops in the Eastern and Central Military Districts will be continued.

It was reported earlier that the check of combat readiness of the troops in the Eastern Military District, in which the forces of the Central Military District, the Pacific Fleet and long-range and military transport aviation are involved, will be continued until July 20.
