Sensational video features doctor striking patient on hospital bed

An investigation into the incident is going on

PERM, July 4 (Itar-Tass)-- A criminal case has been opened against a doctor who hit a cardiac patient on hospital bed after the patient underwent a heart surgery. The patient died.

The medical worker responsible faces criminal punishment for causing intentional harm to human health which entailed the victim's death.

A video featuring the medical worker striking the helpless patient on hospital bed was released on the website of Live News portal on Wednesday.

The victim was a 61- year old man from the Kirov region who was hospitalized at the Perm department of the Federal Center of Cardiac Surgery, where the patient underwent a planned heart surgery.

According to the video recorded by a hospital web camera and later released on the Internet, the patient was struck in the chest after the heart surgery by a medical worker.

An investigation into the incident is going on. Experts are to establish the exact causes of the patient's death before the culprit responsible is put on trial.
