Cobalt 2013 antiterror drill begins in North Caucasus

MOSCOW, July 4 (Itar-Tass) - Some 500 troops will take part in an anti-terrorist drill by the Collective Security Treaty Organization, due to begin in the North Caucasus on Thursday, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told Itar-Tass.

"The tactical and special exercise Cobalt 2013 involving interior troops /police/ of CSTO member-states that are part of the organization's rapid response force /KSOR/ will take place at the Kadamovsky training center of the North Caucasus regional interior troops command on July 4-12," Zainetdinov said.

The participants will drill joint operations to rout terrorist groups, and stop drug- and weapons/explosive trafficking channels in the territory of a CSTO member. Representatives of special task force police from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan arrived for the exercise.
